"Preobrazhensky Life Guards", 1709

KEXHOLM, September 23-24, 2006.

About us

History of the regt

We called this event "The Garrison of Kexholm".
Nowadays this town is called Priozersk, but in 1710 it bore Swedish name Kexholm and was taken by Russians in 1710.
As to why "garrison" - we thought this term best described the concept of the event: we lived in the barracks of the fortress (in a tower), we kept guards, talked to civillians, exercised, received food as per historical regulations, and, of course, had great party in the barrack at night (when Governor was away).

Besides our normal drill exercises, we tried something new: "street firing" method in the narrow gateway of the fortress, and several  ways of "parapet firing" (unfortunately this activity was not photographed properly).
